Frequently (wondered, but) Unasked Questions

Hawai'i???
How Tower Hill Got Its Name
"Kulia i ka nu‘u"….what's that?

Hawai'i???
Why not?  Tower Hill Resources has fifteen years of experience working with partners across multiple time zones in the United States and Asia. With today’s technology, it’s often as easy to work with a client across the Pacific as it is to work with one across town.  Try us and see.

Note:  Many THR clients on the mainland  express an interest in visiting THR in Honolulu to conduct business (for some reason this happens more frequently during the winter months).  Visitors are always welcome, but THR does advise clients to ponder their fiduciary responsibilities before rushing to  make those reservations with an organization credit card.

How Tower Hill Got Its Name
Bill began consulting on a full-time basis while living in Sonoma County, California.  The view from his office window was of a centuries-old oak tree and acres of hillside planted in pinot and chardonnay grapes.  That vineyard was called “Tower Hill” after the large water tower on the hillside that could be seen from miles around.

Besides the awe-inspiring beauty of the place, the tower and its water supported the artisan wine-makers as they coaxed the grapes through a profound transformation process.  In his role as a consultant, Bill is a resource and one ingredient to help direct and effect change.  He does not believe that he has all the answers, but that he can help guide client organizations and their stakeholders through processes that are designed to heighten their awareness and engagement, place issues in context, and maximize the organization’s potential for the future.

“Kulia i ka nu‘u”….What's that?
Tower Hill Resources adopted its tag line of “Kulia i ka nu‘u….strive for the highest” when the business relocated from California to Hawai‘i. Rosa P. Say, author of Managing with Aloha: Bringing Hawai‘i’s Universal Values to the Art of Business, explains this Hawaiian saying as follows:

“Kulia i ka nu’u” is a value of hope and of promise. There is more out there for you. Reach high. Remember that excellence is never an accident: It is always intentional, and it always demands more than the norm.”

Deliberate, focused work is required to achieve excellence in any area. But remember the phrase “good intentions are not enough?” – leaders of nonprofit organizations benefit from a framework and coaching just like great athletes.
